Historic Stone Archway Restoration at St Issells Church

Preserving historic buildings and structures requires a careful balance of traditional craftsmanship, structural expertise and respect for the original construction. HMBS Group was honoured to be involved in the restoration and reconstruction of the historic stone archway at St Issells Church, a project that played an important role in protecting a valuable piece of local heritage.

The stone archway had stood as part of the church's historic character for many years and required specialist attention to ensure its long-term stability while retaining its original appearance. Before reconstruction could begin, extensive support works were undertaken to carefully stabilise the structure and protect the surrounding masonry.

Working methodically throughout the project, our team dismantled and rebuilt the archway using traditional techniques wherever possible. Each stage required close attention to detail, ensuring that the rebuilt structure remained faithful to the original design while meeting modern structural requirements.
